George and Marilyn Chabbott
George and Marilyn Chabbott have been constant champions of education, supporting Delaware Technical Community College Terry Campus at every turn. As Gourmet Gala sponsors, they have helped raise thousands of dollars for student scholarships, as well as the individual scholarship they created. In addition, they are members of the Legacy Society, a special group of individuals who contribute cumulative lifetime gifts of at least $50,000 and/or have announced their intention to leave a gift to the college through various estate planning vehicles. The couple has consistently dedicated time, resources and financial support to Delaware Tech.
In recognition of their unwavering support, the George and Marilyn Chabbott Center for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Innovation and Advancement was dedicated in their honor. Mr. Chabbott volunteers countless hours at the Center helping aspiring entrepreneurs realize their dreams. The couple, who have owned and operated their own successful commercial real estate business, understand the value of hard work and vision, making them the perfect choice for this distinction.
Retiring years ago as a full Colonel in the United States Air Force, Mr. Chabbott has both an abundance of business and military service experience. His commitment to his country is highlighted by his active duty in Korea and Vietnam, flying more than 150 combat missions in total. Once retired, he and his wife were active supporters in the USO, Air Force Association Rotary and Air Force Museum.
Married almost 60 years, together they have made a significant commitment to higher learning. "We feel strongly about making higher education and the ability to improve your circumstance attainable to people with the drive, but not the necessary means," Mr. Chabbott said.
In addition to their dedication to higher education, they have also made numerous and noteworthy contributions in Kent County. As a past president of the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce and past Vice President of Farmer's Bank, Chabbott, with the endless support of his wife Marilyn, helped shape the Dover community.
